Bonnie George attended Pensacola Junior College in the late 1960s and 1980s. She began her career at the University of Florida, later moving on to the U.S. District Court – Northern Florida District, U.S. Probation Office, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. She also worked as a United Way 211 Case Management Specialist for two years. Bonnie and her husband, Hal George, have selflessly supported Pensacola State College since 1995, in addition to their generous support of many causes across our Northwest Florida community. Bonnie's loved ones joined her daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Stephen Pitre, to establish this special scholarship in Bonnie's honor. Bonnie was surprised with the wonderful news at an April 2023 announcement. The scholarship gives preference to nursing students in recognition of the many amazing healthcare professionals who have cared for Bonnie over the years.
Award amount is variable as funds allow. Student must demonstrate financial need for supplemental funding. Student must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Student must be a United States citizen or resident alien. Student must be enrolled on a full-time basis. Student must be enrolled in a nursing program of study. Preference will be given to first generation in college students. The Bonnie R. George Endowed Scholarship may cover tuition, fees, and/or materials required by the syllabi. This award is for the term indicated only. Any unused balance DOES NOT carry forward to subsequent terms.
