The Manasota ASALH Scholarship Program honors a legacy of Black excellence in education—a legacy rooted in achievement, perseverance, and opportunity. Since 2000, we have proudly awarded more than $701,000 in scholarships to 333 outstanding students across Sarasota and Manatee counties, helping them pursue higher education and build brighter futures.
Each year, our program recognizes high-achieving high school seniors and college students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, community involvement, and a commitment to personal and scholarly growth. Collectively, our scholars have maintained exceptional weighted GPAs ranging from 3.7 to 5.0 , consistently exceeding national averages. Many go on to attend prestigious institutions, including Ivy League universities, top-ranked colleges, and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) —a testament to their determination and the support of our generous donors.
During the 2025 Scholarship Awards Ceremony, Manasota ASALH awarded $45,000 in scholarships to 17 remarkable students from the region. In addition to these new awards, we continued our commitment to returning scholars by allocating an extra $10,000 to students currently enrolled in colleges and universities, ensuring their continued progress toward degree completion.
